British Merchant Ships Sunk by U-Boats in the 1914-1918 War

A list of ships with briefest possible details. By: Ned Middleton My day-to-day work comprises mostly of researching ships sunk at sea. It's what I do. For me, therefore, this book is an important addition to my own private library - if only because I will refer to it probably once every two years or so. There are no photographs and one painting of a U Boat at work is included as an end paper. Ships are listed alphabetically by shipping company. Each narrative comprises 3 short lines which include; Name of ship, tonnage, year built, date lost, location, U Boat involved, sometimes the final known position and numbers of crew lost. All ships are then listed again in an index. Useful for people like me but not a book anyone is likely to read. NM
